GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - The intersection of F.M. 691 and U.S. 75 is booming, with dirt moving on all four corners.
"The place, it doesn't look the same."
Five years ago, Texas native Susan Webster moved to North Carolina.
And just a few months back--she moved back to Texoma--only to find everything had changed.
"This place was just fields," she said. "It was nothing like it is now." She lives at the Residence at Gateway Village: Just one of the new buildings popping up on the intersection, where there is growth on all four corners. "We have this whole Gateway Village area, the apartment complex, they're looking at building more town homes and a senior living facility," Webster said.
Gateway Village is a multi-year, multi-acre area that already includes the Hilton Garden Inn and several home developments.
But in the works are brand new restaurants and shops including a proposed Starbucks, according to the Weitzman development website. There will also be the entertainment center HeyDay.
"Sherman and Denison need some more great restaurants, not just chains," Webster said.
On the northeast corner, Texoma Medical Center just opened a new tower.
And across the street on the Sherman side: A 32-acre shopping center called the Shops at Grayson Creek is being cleared for office spaces or even another hotel.
The final corner, also in Sherman, will host Legend Bank and QuikTrip.
"The more we can get in here, retail or technology or whatever, the bigger we're gonna become, and the badder we're gonna become," Webster said.
